Stop Skype for Business from Starting Automatically

If you use any Office 365 subscriptions, stopping Skype for Business from starting automatically on startup is enough.

Because you cannot uninstall Skype for Business alone from your device, as Skype for Business is integrated with other Office 365 applications like Word, Excel, Outlook etc., and you will be given a single click to run the installer. Uninstall Skype for Business will uninstall all other Office 365 applications on your device.

Follow the below instruction to Stop Skype for Business from starting automatically.

How to Stop Skype for Business from Starting Automatically

Open Skype for Business Application on your device
Click on the Setting button available in the right corner
Select Tools and Options as shown in the below image

Select Personal in the Options
Un-tick Automatically start the app when I log on to Windows
Un-tick. Start the app in the foreground
Close the Options Menu

Again click on the Setting button
Select File and click on Exit to exit the application.

Now you have successfully stopped Skype for Business from starting automatically on startup. When you start your PC next time, Skype for Business will not load automatically.

Note: If you are using the latest version of Office 365 subscription version then Skype for Business will not be installed in your device instead you will be installed with Microsoft Teams.

Remove Skype for Business from your computer

Skype for Business was also available as a standalone application, as you can see in the below image if your device has been installed Skype for Business standalone application. You can uninstall Skype for Business application by following the below instruction.

Go to Control Panel on your computer
Click on Programs and Features
Choose Skype for Business from installed applications on your device.
Click Uninstall on the top of the screen.

Now the click-to-run uninstall setup will open and automatically uninstall Skype for Business application from your device.

Note: If you don't see Skype for Business application listed in the control panel, then you are using a version that's integrated with other Microsoft 365 apps. The only way to uninstall it is to remove all of Office from your computer.
