Archiving a Facebook group or deleting it can have different effects and overall outcomes; let us look at some of those effects. How to delete a Facebook group? How to Archive or Pause it instead?

PAUSING A FACEBOOK GROUP

Pausing a Facebook Group is the newest option that Facebook introduced and replaced the Archive option. When you Pause a Facebook Group, no one in the group can post, comment or join your group. Pausing a Facebook Group is like freezing.

Pausing a Facebook Group will be very helpful for various reasons; Facebook also lets you schedule a resuming of your Facebook Group when you pause it so that your Facebook Group can resume at a specific time without your interaction.

So, if you plan to take a vacation, then pausing a Facebook Group will be the right choice to take a break and stop worrying.

DELETING A FACEBOOK GROUP

The deletion of a Facebook Group is genuinely permanent; once you have done the deed, you won’t be able to turn back and get the group restored.

Do remember that if the creator of the group is still a member, then they will solely have the ability to delete the group permanently at their discretion.

If the group owner has left it for some reason, then the existing admins in the group will be able to delete the Facebook group.

The Facebook group members will not get a notification when a group has been deleted, unlike archiving the group, in which case the group members will get a notification that it has been archived.

ARCHIVING A FACEBOOK GROUP

Archiving a Facebook group will completely close the group from having any further discussion; the group will appear either deactivated or frozen once you have archived the Facebook group.

If you change your mind later, you can bring back your group from the archives.

Once you have archived a Facebook group, the members of the group will still be able to visit it, but they won’t be able to comment, upload photos or post content in the group; they will only be able to view the content that was published before the entire group was archived.

Only the group’s direct members will be able to access it, even if it is archived. Hence other people can’t join the archived group.

The archived group will also lose visibility and won’t be shown in Facebook searches.

Group admins also won’t be able to edit any of the archived group’s details, such as descriptions, but they will still be able to remove any posts or block other user profiles from the group.

If the archived group is restored in the future, all the group members can start posting or commenting on it again.
